Kate's Bio

After her studies, Kate joined the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1992. She worked as part of the Language Services team for over 30 years, translating, proofreading and travelling the world to take minutes at the IOC Executive Board and Session (General Assembly) meetings. Kate took minutes for the IOC Disciplinary Commissions for the Sydney and Atlanta Olympic Games and was seconded for a year to IOC President Thomas Bach's Executive Office for English language assistance. She relocated to Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, in 2017, where she continued to work as a freelance minute-taker for the IOC Disciplinary Commission and a translator and proofreader in sports communications. Other freelance assignments over the past five years have included editorial assistance for KITA Communications and translation for JTA Sports.

With a vast field of expertise in translation - including Legal, Marketing, Finance, Medical, International Cooperation and Sports - Kate has recently worked on media translations for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, including press releases and the guides for the opening and closing ceremonies. Other recent freelance commissions include minute-taking for hospitality, film trailer and building development companies.

From 1994 to 2017, Kate took minutes at every International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board and Session (General Assembly meeting). She was also the minute-taker for the Organising Committees for the Olympic Games Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000, whose Chair was former IOC President Count Jacques Rogge, with whom Kate enjoyed an excellent working relationship for over 10 years. After setting up as a freelance language services professional, Kate worked particularly in the area of sports medicine, taking minutes for the IOC Disciplinary Commission, the body responsible for investigating the nature and circumstances of alleged anti-doping rule violations at the Olympic Games.   

From 2020 to 2022, Kate worked as a freelance proofreader for KITA Communications, a boutique agency specialising in raising brand awareness and managing the reputations of organisations and individuals in the global sports industry. In particular, Kate was responsible for the monthly newsletter of the umbrella organisation for National Olympic Committees in Europe.

After a 25-year career, Kate turned freelance in 2018. She was hired as a freelance translator in 2023 by JTA Sport, a company building brands and influencing policy development and decision-making at the highest levels of sport worldwide. Kate provided French-to-English translations for the Organising Committee for the Olympic Games Paris 2024, focusing on press releases and media guides for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Kate was seconded to the Executive Office of IOC President Thomas Bach in 2016 to provide high-level English language assistance to the office.

Kate is passionate about animal welfare, particularly dog rescue.
